Fungicide and Insecticide Resistance Strategy
As mentioned in previous bulletins it is important to rotate/alternate the mode of action of pesticides used, to prevent build of resistance. I have heard on a couple of occasions this summer of growers having difficulty controlling aphids and repeatedly using the same insecticide on them! This approach is sure to cause long term challenges.

  1. Avoid using the same chemical mode of action twice in a row
  2. Pesticides containing 2 modes of action are less likely to develop resistance
  3. Physical mode of action is very unlikely to develop resistance and can be used repeatedly e.g. oils or soaps
