Next Thursday, 21st of June, Bord Bia will host the 2018 Brexit Barometer Results at the Thinking House in Bord Bia’s Head Office on Lower Mount Street.

The Brexit Barometer developed in conjunction with PwC, has provided the industry with a consistent structure to assess the likely impact of Brexit, to find ways to ease the impact of market volatility. Bord Bia revealed findings from its 2017 Brexit Barometer this time last year, and next week will reassess the progress and current situation in the market to ensure that Bord Bia Brexit support services and programmes on offer remain relevant to the needs of its clients.

Minister for Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed TD, will be in attendance to discuss the Irish Government’s response to Brexit, current state of negotiations and challenges facing the agri-food sector, before Bord Bia’s CEO, Tara Mc Carthy, reveals the 2018 Barometer findings and actions that Bord Bia will take to realign programmes, initiatives and resources.

An industry panel, chaired by the Bord Bia’s UK Market Manager, Michelle Butler, will see contributions from Ornua, McCloskey’s Bakery, BDO and Enterprise Ireland. While Kantar World panel will provide an insight into the current UK Grocery Market perspective on Brexit as they continue to centrally measure UK retailers and consumer’s resilience.

As exports to the UK rose by an estimated 7 percent to some €4.4bn in 2017 Bord Bia’s recent launch of it’s UK Insight Centre adds to Bord Bia’s commitment in communicating that the Irish food and drinks sector is in a position to continue growing business in the UK market.
