Gardens Galore at Bloom 2019!

Bloom is open in the Phoenix Park, Dublin until Monday and it’s packed with inspiration, advice and an abundance of plants to brighten up your garden.

Overall Show Garden Award Winners Revealed

With a record-breaking 11 Gold Medals awarded this year, Bloom’s Show Gardens have more than impressed the independent panel of expert judges, who rigorously assessed the gardens prior to the show’s opening on Thursday.

The winner of this year’s overall Large Show Garden award went to Dublin-based garden and landscape designer, Alan Rudden, for his Argentinian themed Vina Dona Paula – A Matter of Altitude garden (pictured).The Best Concept Garden award went to Bord Iascaigh Mhara’s (BIM) Aqua Marine Garden designed by Oliver and Liat Schurmann (pictured) and Best Planting was awarded to Maeve O’Neill for the ‘Grounded’ Growing Conversations Around Mental Illness garden.

The overall Medium Sized Garden award went to Belfast garden designer Linda McKeown for Enable Ireland’s Diversity Garden in association with Solus and the overall Small Sized Garden medal was awarded to VTOS Horticulture Cabra Community College for Tóg go Bog é (Take it Easy).

Vote for Your Favourite Bloom Show Garden

Visitors to Bloom can also take part in the judging process and vote for their favourite garden in the People’s Choice category by following the text instructions displayed at each garden.

With 22 Show Gardens this year, there is plenty to choose from. The gardens will be on display from 9am-6pm every day until the show closes on Monday.

Visit the Bloom Plant Clinic

If you have a plant that’s giving you trouble, worry no more. The Bloom Plant Clinic presented by The Irish Garden magazine can help. Located in the Floral Marquee, the Clinic is staffed by 20 trained, experienced gardeners and horticulturists who will be on hand to solve all of your gardening troubles.

Don’t forget to bring samples of your trickiest garden and plant problems. 
You can also bring a snap of your plant on your phone.


Pick Up Some Plants in the Quality Mark Plant Village

The Quality Mark Plant Village makes its debut at Bloom this weekend. It features a large selection of Irish grown Quality Assured plants which have been specially selected to look their best at this time of year and are ready to plant in your garden now.

A number of new varieties are on display this year including the Hydrangea Runaway Bride(pictured), which is enjoying its exclusive first Irish release at Bloom. The Rosa Looking for Love new Irish-bred rose, which features in the Kildare Growers Group Show Garden for Crumlin Children’s Hospital, will also be on limited sale.

Don’t forget, you can leave any plants you purchase in Bloom’s Plant Crèche while you explore the show. Over 120,000 plants were stored safely in the crèche last year and the team will help you carry your new purchases to your car when you leave.
