On Wednesday, 22 February, CAFRE will once again be hosting a Renewable Energy event entitled “Practical On-farm Renewable Energy” at Enniskillen Campus, Enniskillen. The aim is to provide practical information for farmers and the rural sector about the various renewable energy options for their business. It will run from 1.30pm to 10.00 pm.

One aspect of the day will be a Trade Exhibition where around thirty companies will be displaying their renewable energy products. These will include examples of the main technologies that can be used on the farm.

As can be seen from the programme there are a wide range of seminars relating to both specific technologies and the associated challenges in their adoption.

Many will no doubt be interested in the first hand experiences of famers such as Eoin McCambridge with his micro-hydro plant, John Best on a biomass boiler installation at the family farm and Jim Torney, who will talk on the construction and commissioning of the biogas plant at Blakiston Houston Estates in Dundonald. Many of the seminars are repeated in the evening so you can select what you want to attend and when from the attached programme.

Peter Hutchinson from DETI will discuss the proposed Renewable Heat Incentive, Trevor Finlay will deal with financing major projects, Anne Douglas with taxation.

Other speakers from DARD, the Agri-Food and Bio-Sciences Institute and CAFRE will be taking part.

Throughout the day, there will be an opportunity to view the biomass boiler installation and fuel delivery system at the Campus.

The event offers a great opportunity for anyone interested in a renewable energy development, bringing together as it does both independent technical advice, practical demonstration and members of the trade keen to do business.

It is an event not to be missed.
